Fiscally Feasible Fashion: Classically Pretty

May 12, 2010

Today’s affordable work outfit is a classic combination: pencil skirt, patterned blouse, and pretty cardigan.  Adding nude shoes and nude belt let’s you pull the outfit together without distracting from the basic pieces.  And yes, the skirt is from Talbot’s.  Don’t let the Mom jeans fool you, Talbot’s has decent staples at low prices if you know how to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Lotus Earring (Banana Republic, $17)

Pima Cotton Caridgan (J.Jill, $25)

Draped Floral Top (Forever21, $20)

Skinny Patent Belt (Asos, $11)

Seasonless Wool Blend Skirt (Talbot’s, $65)

BDG Suede Pumps (Urban Outfitters, $48)

    Love that outfit!

  2. Anna says:

Have you seen Talbot’s fall lookbook? It’s very similar to J. Crew styles pre-socks w/ heels and frayed edges. Very classic – no mom jeans in sight. I was shocked.

  3. This outfit isn’t my numero uno, but I LOVE the earrings – & I secretly sometimes shop at Talbots, too. 😉

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
