When I was kid, my Father picked out most of my clothes.   His favorite items were khaki shorts with button-up shirts.  We called it the "safari" look.  All I needed was a pith hat and I would have been all set to go searching for Mr. Livingston in the wilds of Africa.  Who knew this look would one day grace the pages of Vogue?
