Colorblock Shell ($49 + 30%-off)

When I spotted this bright, sophisticated top on another blog, I couldn’t believe it was J.CREW.  I had a serious, “How did I not see this top? How did I miss something this great?” moment of surprise.  And when I saw it also came in a simple black and white color scheme…well…then I was truly smitten.

As for colorblocking, I didn’t expect the trend to last this long, but fashion magazines are still touting colorblocked pieces for next spring and summer.  So this trend definitely has some life left in it.  I also like this long-sleeve silk top, this sweater with colorblocking on the sleeves and this adorable dip-dye dress.

Plus size options include this cute eggplant top and this neutral and bright shift dress.

  1. I have that top and love it, but I'm glad I bought it on sale becuase 1) it's kind of difficult to style for winter so paying full price and not wearing it much for months would have been annoying 2) the silk is a bit thin so it snags and pulls pretty easily

Hi Belle! I actually just bought this shirt over the holidays! Would love some ideas for pairing, other than with black pants! Would love to wear it both at work and play! Thanks!

  3. Lexi says:

Thanks for including plus size options! I'm seriously considering the cardigan in the post above.

  4. @ Liz, I love it with bright short shorts and wedges (and maybe some crazy sunglasses) for a Mod summer or vacation look. Sadly I managed to get in one warm wear and now it's probably going to sit in my closet until summer.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
