Two Ways: Tan Ankle Sandal

Shoes: GeezLouis Sandals ($89)

From Left, Earrings: Pink Onyx Drops ($125) Bracelet: Aspinal of London Cuff ($180) Bag: Navy Briefcase ($119) Sweater: Tippi Cardigan ($85) Belt: Double Loop Belt ($248) Top: Sera Medallion Top ($80) Skirt: Reiss Seamed Pencil Skirt ($180)

From Right, Earrings: Dara Ettinger Lapis Earrings ($158) Bracelet: Gorjana Willow Bangle ($98) Clutch: MK Ostrich Clutch ($450) Dress: Darcy Dress by AllSaints ($468)

For the Office. Whether you can wear a sandal like this to the office depends on your individual office.  At my previous job, I wouldn’t have worn a shoe that showed this much toe to work.  But in my current position, I could easily wear it on a day when I don’t have meetings.  If these aren’t for you, try these beige mid-heel open-toe pumps or these grey perforated-suede heels instead.

I love the wider waistband on this Reiss skirt.  Much more flattering for those of us without super model abs.  J.Crew makes a cheaper skirt with a similar style if you’re looking for savings or neutral colors.

Want a similar skirt in a plus size?  Try this inexpensive Kenneth Cole pencil.  Need a petite option? J.Crew has you covered.

Tucking a fuller blouse into a higher-waist pencil is a great way to play with proportion.  It also helps conceal on those days when you’re feeling bigger than usual.  I still love this printed top from J.Crew, but this $70 white, long sleeve blouse is pretty too.  Or you could go for the gusto and choose this printed Tucker blouse.

I debated whether to add a grey or ivory cardigan to complete the look, and ultimately decided that the grey clashed with shoe.  The ivory is a much cleaner look.

I love this sleek navy briefcase tote.  And for the jewelry, I chose these pale pink drop earrings and this cool navy cuff.  The bracelet looks like lizard, but it’s really hundreds of tiny crystals packed tightly together.  Need cheaper choices?  These gorgeous earrings are just $16, and this thin, stunning House of Harlow bracelet is still a favorite.

For the hair, how about diving into the 90s with a Topsy Tail-inspired do?  For the makeup, a dark greige nail polish and a rosy gloss should do the trick.

For a Wedding.  Since the Ask Belle that generated this morning’s post asked for shoes that could be worn to a wedding, I thought it only fitting that I show a cocktail ensemble.

I could not be more smitten with this AllSaints dress with asymmetric straps and a flared skirt.  If you’re in search of a dress that can be worn to multiple weddings in a season, I think navy is a great color to choose.  I also like this navy-printed flare dress, this navy lace dress, this navy satin sheath and this navy BCBG one shoulder, similar to the dress above.

If you’re looking for a navy dress in a plus-size, this cap sleeve lace cocktail dress is lovely.  This 3/4 sleeve dress is also a nice choice.  Petite?  I love the neckline on this sheath dress and this boatneck lace sheath is really pretty.

You could choose a simple silver or gold clutch for this, but I thought the emerald was a fun choice.  If you’re looking for a clutch under-$200, this Claire Vivier is on trend.  Not a fan of the green or the price? Try this chic berry-colored clutch from White House Black Market or this funky orange stone clutch from BCBG.

These lapis earrings are lust worthy.  I love the look of the unpolished stones and the mix of colors.  I also like these $65, art deco, silver and lapis drops and these lapis-accented hoops.  Need to stay under-$50?  These infinity drops are the perfect choice.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a twisted, wavy chignon.  For the makeup, I would don a raspberry nail polish like Essie Sure Shot and a grey smoky eye.

Sure wish I could afford that All Saints dress… to die for!

I picked up a similar dress for a wedding at the end of April. The problem is that it’s in Ohio and could be cold – anyone have good suggestions for something fun to wear over a navy dress? Thank you!

Really happy to see the ivory and gray J.Crew blouse from the other day again! I just bought it on sale and love seeing another way to wear it.

I love the navy briefcase, and I’m in the market for a classy briefcase or tote for interviews on the Hill that is NOT leather. So this fits the bill! Have you bought this brand? Do you know if it looks this quality in person? Or can you recommend other brands that do non-leather totes well?

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
