Happy Hour: A Glass of Creamy Awesomeness

Oct 11, 2013

cherryshake-2

I have four words for you: roasted.cherry.bourbon.milkshakes.  Are you dying?  I’m dying.

This cocktail/dessert is brought to us by the fine people at How Sweet It Is.  And while this glass-full-of-awesome is a bit labor intense–you have to roast cherries, blend ice cream and warm up hot fudge–good things come to those who toil.  I mean just look at that photo, and tell me that your taste buds aren’t searching for the nearest clean spoon?

After all, it’s a long weekend.  So spare some of your three days off to make this cup of creamy, boozy deliciousness.  You won’t be disappointed.

Victoria’s Secret Kiss of Cashmere Tunic Sweater ($70)

Olivia Pope has her all white, wine-drinking clothes.  I have my cold-weather blogging uniform: Zella leggings and a long sweater.  This Victoria’s Secret sweater is one of my favorites.  I pair it with a simple cotton tank, and I look mildly put together when I’m sitting on the couch watching football.

I also like this cool, twisted Max Studio sweater that is dressy enough for work.  This Halogen cowl neck comes in several great colors, as does this Mossimo pullover tunic.  But if you want a little pattern in your life, Asos has this on-trend Geo Tribal Jumper.

Plus-size ladies should check out this tonal colorblock cashmere tunic from Lord & Taylor.  And petites should look at this v-neck tunic sweater from LOFT.

Happy Hour

Ooooooooh those sweaters make me want to curl up on my couch and go to sleep in one. Why would you do that to me on a rainy Friday afternoon???
I guess I”ll have to eat that ice-cream to console myself…

I own this VS sweater in a light beige, and it is divine. It’s my favorite thing to wear–I’m waiting anxiously for it to be more consistently cold here in DC so that I can wear it constantly.

For anyone thinking of purchasing, be forewarned that it does have some extra volume the hips because of the pockets and it doesn’t hang straight and flat, but I think with sleek bottoms it can still be very flattering.

  3. Nellie says:

Belle, you aren’t finding cherries in DC anywhere this time of year, are you? I feel like they had a short season this summer and I haven’t seen them (or frozen versions) in grocery stores recently.

  4. Lindsay says:

I bought the halogen cowl neck sweater last year and for the price it’s fantastic. Be forewarned though it sheds like crazy.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
