BCBG Cielo Pump ($60) // 6. Dooney & Bourke Gusset Flap Bag ($365) // 7. Chloe Stud Earring ($35), Aria Ring Set ($80) and Michael Kors Oversize Watch ($275)

Today’s outfit comes to us from Jean at Extra Petite.com.  She’s one of my favorite bloggers (so stylish) and one of my favorite people.  I think her take on Tartan plaid would be perfect for a casual Friday or a relaxed holiday dinner.  Here’s how to recreate it on your own.

One. If you like a cotton trench for spring and fall, you’ll love a wool trench for winter.  This Uniqlo number is great for the price.  I also like this Express trench with a fit-and-flare shape, and this London Fog wool trench is a classic.  Plus-size?  Try this Kenneth Cole wool trench.

Not feeling the trench?  Swap it out for this duffle coat from Uniqlo.

Two and Three.  I love the mix of the plaid shirt with the pine green sweater.  If you’re looking for a less expensive sweater, J.Crew has a classic cable that fits the bill.  I also like this chunky Topshop sweater.

For the shirt, Jean wore her boyfriend’s shirt.  Since I don’t have a man whose clothes I can swipe, it’s time to go shopping.  The Land’s End shirt is by far the best one I found.  It also comes in plus and petite.

Four.  Jean is wearing the Sloan pant from Banana Republic, but these skinny trousers from J.Crew Factory are a great choice for under-$50.  If you want something that suits the cold weather look better, switch out the twill pants for corduroys.  And, of course, there’s always denim.

Five. Jean chose bronze shoes for her outfit, but I went with a classic dark brown.  Prefer a lower heel?  Try these Nine West Austin pumps.

Six.  The bag in the photo is a classic Coach flap satchel.  They no longer make this style in navy–though they do make a smaller cross body bag— so I thought I would select this Dooney bag instead.  Should you want something less expensive, try this Zara combination suede and leather bowler for $79 or this Erin messenger-style bag from Fossil.

Seven.  Jean isn’t wearing jewelry in the photo, but I thought I would add some classic pieces to complete the set.  I like the oversized watch to continue the theme started with the man’s shirt.  I also like the simple hammered studs from Gorjana and the ring set.  Looking for a cheaper set of rings?  Try these pentagonal stack rings from Macy’s for $13.

I just yesterday bought a pine green cable knit sweater from loft for $30. The 3/4 sleeve is not my first choice, but I like the sweater overall.

Is this look better left to petite ladies or can us taller folk work it too?

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
