Embroidered Placket Blouse ($79 + 40%-off)

I love placket blouses for work.  They’re versatile enough to wear to the office or with weekend attire.  They mix the professionalism of a button-up with the femininity of a blouse.  And this one has a really unique detail on the placket to give it a little something extra.

These Everlane blouses are perfect for the office and come in lovely colors.  This Asos blouse has a pleated front that’s very interesting.  If you like prints, this animal print blouse from Billabong is chic and this Jones New York top has a very Tory Burch look to it.

Prefer something sleeveless or with short sleeves?  This Mossimo blouse has a stylish mix of neutral colors, and this French Connection blouse has a sheer yoke.

Plus-size?  This Anne Klein blouse has a great casual look to it, it would be nice with white denim.  Petite?  In addition to the Ann Taylor blouse above, this J.Crew popover would be nice for the weekends.

I love silk/placket blouses and am wearing one today with jeans for casual Friday! This one may be arriving at my doorstep shortly–it’s a style I can’t get enough of right now because as you mentioned, they are SO versatile.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
