Old Navy Scoopneck Dress ($35)

I bought this dress last week at Old Navy.  It’s the “I need something for dinner” or the “What do I wear to brunch ?” dress that every woman needs.  Throw it on, add jewelry, add shoes, call it a day.

It’s also one of those dresses that everyone asks you where you bought it, then is shocked when you say Old Navy.

The dress also comes in grey.  You can buy it in sizes XS thru XXL.  Need a plus-size option?  This Eileen Fisher boatneck dress is a nice option.

If you’re on the smaller end of plus sizes, try this dress on. Old Navy sizing can be a bit all over the map, and while I am on the smaller end of a plus size, I can wear either the XL or XXL at Old Navy, depending on the item.

  2. Joules says:

That dress looks very much like one I just bought at Forever 21 (I know, I almost never find anything there, but it was in their contemporary line). Its got an open back and a long length that will work for many occasions.

  3. Ann S says:

Bought this last night to throw in a suitcase for a conference. Anticipate it being a well-priced workhorse

  4. Leigh says:

Is it really an above the knee length, or is it longer? From the fit on the model, it looks like it would be below the knee for me, but I’m not sure! I wish every retailer posted lengths.

  5. Amy says:

I buy dresses like these from Old Navy on a regular basis. One warning – they all pill like crazy, and are difficult to de-pill. So if you really love it, I’d suggest buying more than one.

  6. Susan says:

I’m 5’3″ and I tried this dress on in the store tonight after seeing it on the blog this morning. It was far too long, hitting mid calf. I passed since this is not a flattering length for me, but since I liked the dress overall am considering purchasing it and having it shortened if possible…The fabric could have been a bit thicker, but it was comfortable and seemed to fit tts. Not sure it would hold up for more than one season but that’s okay for this price!

  7. Addie says:

I never used to shop at Old Navy because I’d see cute stuff on TV commercials but absolutely nothing in the stores. I should’ve tried the website back then. I’ve bought so many things from them recently

  8. Clara says:

To me, Old Navy deals are never worth it. The clothes are cute and cheap but fall apart so quickly I feel like they’re not even worth the cheap price.

  9. Sarah says:

Susan, Leigh and anyone else wondering about the length: I bought a similar ON dress that Belle recommended (the space dyed grey ruched one) and it was SO long on me (mid calf, as Susan mentioned). UGH. I was heart broken!

  10. Ann S says:

I guess I lucked out – I am 5′ 4″ and the one I bought hits me right below my knee cap which a good length for me. I have noticed that length and fit varies greatly even with the same size at Old Navy so I rarely order online any more.

Probably won’t last past the season, but at this price I am not really expecting it to.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
