Ask Belle: Tuxedo Blazers

Nov 24, 2014

Dear Belle,

My favorite tuxedo blazer is on its last legs.  I’m hoping you can help me find a replacement for under-$125.  I’d like all black, but I’d also consider other colors.

Thanx! Kei

I love a tuxedo jacket.  They’re great with jeans, ankle trousers, or over cocktail dresses.  When tailored properly, they blur the line between feminine and masculine in a really sexy and playful way.

Catherine Malandrino Tuxedo Jacket ($78)

This classic tuxedo jacket from Malandrino is an amazing choice.  This shawl collar jacket from Forever21 is another great option.  Target also offers a great tuxedo jacket in basic black and a wider selection of colors.

White tuxedo jackets are my favorite.  This contrast trim jacket from Anne Klein is one of my favorites.  Or if you want plain ivory, Wallis has you covered.

Plus-size?  This jacket from Torrid has a faux-leather collar.  Petite or Tall? Try this tuxedo jacket from LOFT.

I have a similar white tux jacket with black trim and all I can think re: styling is black pants/skirt and black shell. How would you style this beyond the obvious?

  2. Helena says:

    Bustier!

If you’re not into that look, try a drapey camisole– blush, silver, gray, or teal would look good with the jacket and slim black pants.

  3. I would love to see how you would style this! I think tuxedo blazers are awesome looking but have never really known know to do with one.

Just ordered the tuxedo jacket + matching cropped pant.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
