In other words, stop dreaming and start doing.

1) The Wall Street Journal reports that due to budget cuts and smartphones, the 40-hour workweek is a thing of the past.  The New York Times also covers how some men who claim to work 80-hour weeks may be faking it.

2) This $29 black crossbody bag from Target is utterly sleek.  It also comes in charcoal, which I think I like even better.

3) Levo League has some great tips for using LinkedIn like a pro.

4) Lace-up, gladiator sandals are really hot right now.  I like these chic and comfortable Gentle Souls sandals for the weekends.  And these Ghillie pointed flats from Topshop take the trend to the office.

5) In a world where children are exposed to sexual images, violence, and profanity in increasing amounts at younger ages, there are still people who want to ban “Of Mice and Men” because it contains the word ‘bastard.’

6) Mango has some cute tops right now.  I like this bright, flowy blouse.  This embroidered blouse is really pretty and ethereal.  Plus-size? Try this Violeta floral-print blouse.

7) Behold, Stratos, the card that combines debit, credit, loyalty cards, etc. into one piece of plastic.  Smaller wallets for everybody!

8) I’m strangely obsessed with pom-pom trim right now.  This Anthro cardigan makes it office appropriate.  This Nasty Gal off-the-shoulder dress in black is awfully cute.  This swimsuit cover in gauzy fabric is a glamorous choice.

9) The New Yorker covers the rise of the “mommy blog” and how it’s helped women monetize raising children.  Scary Mommy also covers those annoying Facebook friends who are always trying to sell you something at a modern Tupperware party.

10) A few readers asked where to find the gold sandals I’m wearing in this Instagram photo.  They’re no longer available, but these Sperry sandals are very similar.

I stand by something that all the local Jameis Winston stories have brought up. I wish that there was a way to block posts that contain certain words/phrases. Then I could block Advocare, Plexus, ETC as well as accused rapists sports contract details.

I recently bought the Cobb Hill Ireland in pewter, which are a bit similar, and VERY comfortable. Highly recommend especially if you want a shoe that comes in Narrow or Wide.

I have often wondered how anyone can stand to blog about their personal lives due to the amount of terminal jerkiness on the internet. Even here where you are talking about fashion, career and news topics there are some comments that just make my jaw drop, as if they are your customer and you owe them some kind of service.

Well #9 just reinforced my fear that I am not cut out for that sort of thing, ha!

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
