Ladies, thank you for all of your support in the wake of Friday’s post.  I know it was more emotion that you’re used to seeing here, unless snark is an emotion.  With a huge paper due yesterday and a midterm today, it’s a bit of light day.  See you tomorrow! xo, Belle

1) If you’re not paying attention to the Greek debt crisis, now might be the time to start.  The New York Times has a good primer.

2) This reversible Street Level shopper in pale blush/tan (and five other color combos) is still one of the greatest under-$50 bags for sale anywhere.  They also make an almost painfully on-trend fringe hobo that’s worth a look.

3) What to do when you have a great interview, but never hear back.

4) Love perfume but can’t find the right scent?  This custom perfume blending kit looks pretty awesome.  As for my favorite fragrance, I’m all Jimmy Choo Exotic, all the time.

5) The Atlantic discusses why you don’t need to worry so much about whether your fruits and vegetables are “processed.”

6) I can’t believe retailers are already stocking fall pieces, but I LOVE this leather and boucle jacket from Vince and this Parker sweater with sheer details.

7) Worried about Big Brother watching your social media?  The WSJ explains why younger siblings should literally be worried about their big brothers watching their social media. (Behind paywall, Google the article title to read it if you get blocked.)

8) If you’re still looking for the perfect shirtdress, this Land’s End dress is affordable and lovely.  And I really like the boho-chic vibe of this maxi dress from Free People.

9) Ghosting: When your ex gives you the ultimate silent treatment. (On a related note, is it weird to be happy Charlize Theron broke up with Sean Penn?)

10) Need inexpensive lingerie?  This lacy and racy teddy from ASOS is adorbs.  Not into lace?  This casual set with neon trim is kind of awesome.

11) Today, in headlines you won’t believe until you read the article, Sikhs are an integral part of the Parmesan cheese-making industry in Italy.

both of the links on #6 go to the same item.

  2. SN says:

The plural of Sikh is Sikhs. Sikh’s is a possessive.

    • Belle says:

Oh typos. Always a good time.

      • SN says:

Unfortunately, the use of an apostrophe in a plural appears to be an increasingly common mistake….you see it on those hanging signboards all the time “The Smith’s”, when it should be “The Smiths”. It makes the Internet look 5 years old. I recently saw it in the title of an article…”Paint’s” when “Paints” was meant. They can’t all be typos, and constitute a disturbing sign of the poor education of not only the general public but also journalists.

  3. Addie says:

I loved the cardiologist’s answer for his patient worried about PCBs in salmon!

    • Belle says:

Me too. Like, oh, you care about food additives, do you know what they put in tobacco products? On an unrelated note, it’s kind of scary how many people are vaping now and not thinking about what that nicotine is doing to them.

  4. Shelley says:

Didn’t summer just start? Now I have to think about fall clothes? OK you twisted my rubber arm. My one big splurge I’d like to make this fall is a pair of Fry boots in brown.

    • Anna says:

I got a pair on Amazon last year (Melissa back-zip). I think they were on sale, plus ebates had amazon on special. They probably came out to around $350. Pricey for sure, but unlike the half dozen $200 boots I’ve owned, these are full, thick leather so no lining to rip or outside to stretch out and flop around. And not only are they really sturdy and do they age well, but I know when they do start looking rough, it’s a relatively easy repair. A quick google search brings up a few sale prices that weren’t around when I got mine last fall.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
