Ask Belle: Eeeny, Meeny, Miny, Tote

Jul 1, 2015

Dear Belle,

I am trying to choose between two very similar tote bags.  From a practicality standpoint, both meet my needs, so this really comes down to style.  I admire your taste so much, and I am hoping you could tell me which you would choose if you were in my shoes.

Would you pick this Kors Travel Tote or this Large Jet Set Tote?

Thanks, Caitlin

While these bags have a slightly different style, I think the bigger question is in regards to size.  The Jet Set tote is larger than the Travel tote.  The Jet Set also has a separated pockets and a zippered compartment.  For me, it’s always about storage.  I’d choose the Jet Set.

Looking for something similar under-$75?  This Saffiano tote from Mango is a good option.  I also like this Gabby tote from Neiman Marcus.

Dimensions and pictures show that they’re nearly identical in size (same material plus same weight would suggest so as well). They’re also both listed as ‘jet set travel’ totes – just different style names (EW/TZ). Looks like you are recommending the EW.

I have the EW and the handles have not held up well. I am constantly cutting strings off them from where the binding on the edges has come off. I have not had this issue with Kate Spade or Tory…not sure I would purchase a MK full price because I just don’t think the quality is that great…

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
