Two Ways: Holiday Party Day-to-Night

Dec 16, 2015

After work holiday parties are always tricky.  You want to look your best for both occasions, but they don’t have the same dress code.  Here is my favorite day-to-night look for work-related events.

Dress: Goat Wallis Wool Dress ($326)

Workday, Necklace: Nakamol Collar ($36) // Bag: Matt & Nat Satchel ($168) // Tights: Commando Ultimate Opaque Tights ($38) // Shoes: Kate Spade Nessa Too ($498)

After Work, Necklace: Nebular Collar Necklace ($62) // Bag: La Regale Minaudière ($53) // Shoes: Neiman Marcus Abegail Pumps ($85)

For transitioning from day-to-night, you can go with a basic black sheath (like this Josephine dress from NYDJ) or choose a color.  I like eggplant, white, or green.

Add a boot and tights for daytime, then switch to a mesh pump for night.  This Neiman Marcus shoe is a great buy.  And I’m still lusting after these L.K. Bennett shoes with a mesh vamp.

I finished off both looks with a cool necklace–beads for the work outfit, sparkle for night time.  If you need statement necklaces with punch, I recommend BaubleBar and Neiman Marcus Last Call.

Great outfits and timing, thank you Belle! My holiday party this year is in the office at 5 pm (a big change from previous years offsite at 7) and I have been stressing about what to wear.

The guys are apparently wearing tuxes the whole day, but I am not doing doing work in a cocktail dress, haha.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
