Belle’s Five Picks for February

Feb 2, 2016

One day, you’re amazed it’s 2016.  The next, you’re shocked it’s February.  Before you know it, you’re carving a turkey wondering where the year went.

This month, I’m feeling bold.  More color, more texture, more impact.  Here are some of the pieces that caught my eye for February.

1. Loeffler Randall Scarlet Lace Up Sandal ($425) // 2. Rifle Paper Garance Dore Social Stationery ($22) // 3. Goat Marcelle Dress ($333) // 4. Queenbee Cuff ($58) // 5. Plaited Updo (Pinterest)

One. Lace-up shoes are the biggest thing in footwear right now.  These Loeffler Randall sandals are so much fun (also in silver/nude).  For an affordable lace-up sandal, I like these laser-cut sandals from Nasty Gal.  I also like their tassel trim gladiator sandals.

Like the lace-up look but want something more conservative?  These blush-colored Topshop lacer-cut grille flats are to die for.  These black ASOS lace-up flats are also a great basic for $36.

Two. Garance Dore created a gorgeous collection for Rifle Paper.  These social cards are very fun.  Her 2016 wall calendar is a great little item.  And I adore the sketches on her New York/Paris notebook.

Three. Red.  I am on the hunt for a red sheath dress for the office.  This Goat dress is a Kate Middleton favorite.  For something in a mid-price range, this Maggy London gathered dress is a nice option.  I also like this Tahari Origami dress.

Plus-size? Try this Kasper v-neck sheath.  Petite?  This Maeve Evangeline sheath is super chic.

Four. Buzz buzz.  This bee-embellished bracelet from Baublebar makes such a statement.  Their chunky Billow cuff mixes metal and sparkle in a really cool way.  For a subtle statement, this layered Pisa cuff is a must-have.

Five. The weather has been terrible out West–wet, humid, yuck.  It feels like my hair has been in a permanent updo since Christmas, so I’m searching for new ways to pin it up.  This plaited updo from Pinterest caught my eye.  I also like this laptop loop, and this pretty, slightly-crazy faux-hawk.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
