State of the Blog: Legal Briefs and Bright Pink

Feb 9, 2016

dc2b32810c0592982eecc4a04dbe36baInstead of writing about shoes and dresses (i.e.: what I want to be doing), I am writing a lengthy legal brief for a client.  Almost 40-hours in, and the only way I’ll finish is to stay up all night plugging away on Westlaw.  Because who doesn’t love an evening spent legal research and writing?

Only 87 days until graduation…but who’s counting?

On an unrelated note, this image of a perfectly styled bright pink coat really caught my eye.  It looks like the perfect piece to bring a bit of pop to my late winter/early spring wardrobe.

I found this perfect Kate Spade coat with a bow neckline.  For something under-$125, this Julie Grace coat may be the item in the photo.  Prefer a softer pink?  The cotton coat from Mango is just the ticket.  Plus-size?  Try this Gallery Button a-line coat.

I’ll be back tomorrow, post-deadline.

Obviously not now, but when you have some time, check out Bryan Garner’s books on legal writing. It will really help you take your brief writing to the next level.

    Good luck and kick butt!

Well, now I’m curious. You graduate in 87 days (congrats, btw!) but you just moved to a new apartment? Is this move out west permanent? Goodbye to DC?

I have to take the bar and all that, and I decided it would be cheaper to do it here since I don’t want to pay $2k+ in rent while I live in the library. Also, I bought a house as an investment property (real estate is so cheap here compared to DC), so I’m chilling until early 2017. You know, skip out on all this 2016 rigamarole and make some smart financial choices. I love the West, but I don’t think I can live here permanently, mostly because there’s almost nowhere good to eat.

    Good luck and godspeed, Belle!

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
