Item of the Week: Bell Sleeve Jackets

While I was in London, I picked up a white bell sleeve jacket.  I’ve been wearing it quite frequently.  It’s quite chilly out West, so I’m wearing it to dress up casual tops and jeans.  I’m also wearing it over sheath dresses.  It’s the kind of piece that adds a bit of style to any outfit.

This Mango ruffle sleeve coat ($149) is a nice option.  This black Banana Republic jacket is lovely, Wallis has a similar black jacket for $57.  This blush Misguided jacket is also worth a look.  Plus-size?  This floral bell sleeve jacket is pretty.  Petite?  Don’t miss this Halogen jacket.

Item of the Week: Wrapover Blouses

H&M Wrapover Blouse ($35) I love a little drama in my wardrobe.  Whether it’s a party in the back (like on this OdlR top) or a dramatic shoulder (like on this Bailey44 blouse), I like when a piece of clothing makes a bold statement.  And the wrapover blouse trend certainly makes a statement. I’ve seen these wrapover tops on a lot of bloggers lately.  My one issue is that they usually choose tops that also have a dramatic ruffled sleeve.  The voluminous wrap with the ruffle sleeve looks a bit too Carmen Miranda for me.  But this H&M blouse has a…

Item of the Week: The White Blazer

I had planned to launch a new feature called Tuesday Shoes-Day, today.  The trouble is that the Ann Taylor website is currently down.  So we’ll have to trudge through until it’s back up.  Because what good is it to post an awesome pair of shoes if no one can buy them? I adore a white blazer.  It is my summertime office must-have.  I wear it over a striped top with jeans on casual Friday.  I pair it with any and all sheath dresses.  I love it with black for a classic look, but you can really wear it with any color.…

Item of the Week: Flutter Sleeves

2017 is the year of the dramatic sleeve.  For winter, it was the bell sleeve and the lantern sleeve.  For spring, may I present the flutter sleeve.  It’s feminine, it’s breezy, and just a little bit flirty. This Adrianna Papell dress in mint ($140) could work for dinner, a cocktail party, or for a less-conservative work environment.  I adore this affordable floral print dress from Ellen Tracy.  This sleeveless dress from Whistles is a cute part dress.  For an affordable business-casual or casual dress, this Land’s End surplice dress comes in tall, petite, plus, and misses. Prefer a flutter sleeve…

Item of the Week: Trench Coats

The trenchcoat game in London is strong.  With the chilly, drizzly weather, it’s not hard to see why.  But great trench coats can be hard to find, or easy to find and hard to afford. This Burberry Kensington Trench is all kinds of wardrobe goals.  For something more affordable, London Fog is my favorite brand.  This double-breasted trench is a pure classic.  This hooded trench with a detachable liner is perfect for wet climes.  For something under-$100, one of my friend’s just bought this relaxed-fit Madewell trench, and sings its praises.
