2) This red zip-top tote is a smashing deal for just $59.  A great basic with a bit of pop.

4) These dotted Eberjey pajamas are the cutest thing, ever.

5) How to thrive when all you feel is turmoil. (DailyWorth)

What I Read Recently.  I finished The Hopefuls over the holidays.  It’s one of the few fiction books that doesn’t make D.C. look like Scandal.  A good, lighter read.

The Article My Friends and I Debated on GChat. Should fashion magazines talk politics?  I think women’s mags have a role in educating the public when it comes to politics, but I’m a bit troubled by the lack of diversity.  This NYT article shows the wide variety of opinions from women on the right.

What Perplexes Me. Why is Overstock.com selling Celine handbags?

  1. Chris says:

Ah, Belle, you made me think that Overstock was selling Celine handbags for cheap, and I got SO EXCITED. What a letdown 😉

    • Belle says:

      1) Yes, I agree. I got excited too, and then saw the retail price. But 2) Why are they selling them? Are they real? Are they fake?

  2. Larissa says:

I’m reading The Hopefuls right now! Glad you liked it 🙂

  3. Eleni says:

Thanks for adding your book picks. I just finished Hillbilly Elegy and look forward to your other recommendations!

  4. Jules says:

The Bloomberg article was really interesting, thanks for sharing!
In a way…. it made me feel better about our finances. (me+husband, no kids). I’m often really critical of myself since I’m the only non-doctor/lawyer/Ph.D/engineer/MBA out of my circle of friends. I always felt so “behind” in life, but actually, I might be just fine. I know comparison isn’t a good thing, but it actually helped me feel a bit more relaxed.
I’m always curious about how other families live – money is such a taboo topic.

  5. Linsey says:

I’m sure they are real, but why is Banana selling Louis Vuitton? Just seems random to me.

  6. Meredith says:

Thank you for highlighting an article that features varying viewpoints, specifically, that of conservative women. FINALLY a blog that is speaking to all women, not just those they share political views with.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
