The Nordstrom Half-Yearly is a great time to buy holiday gifts or add a few discounted pieces to your closet.  For me, a sale like this is all about the shoes.  Because, unlike clothes, I really maximize cost-per-wear with my shoes.  Here are a few of my favorites from this year’s sale.

Boots.  So many good boots at this sale.  These Via Spiga boots are a great tall boot to wear to the office with tights and a pencil skirt.  And I love the rich, dark color of these Enzo boots.

Also found at the sale, these cognac Coach Mysie boots with just the right amount of prep, and these under-$150 Franco Sarto boots in black or taupe suede.

Pumps.  How amazing are these Charles David modern-Mary Janes?  I love them in the red, but they also come in beige and black.  And the Caswell pumps would look awesome with a skirt, under pants or with denim.

The Charles David Pact pump in textured burgundy leather also caught my eye, as did this $87 Sam Edelman pump with a black-on-black toe cap.  I bought these LK Bennett Shilo pumps in a nude-to-me color for spring.  They also come in this saucy cranberry color.  But the best deal in the sale in this under-$100 Charles David pointed toe pump.

Flats.  I have been looking at these sparkly D’orsay flats for months, and the sale finally convinced me to pull the trigger.  I think they’ll be adorable with jeans on dry-weather days, or with a casual dress in the early spring.

There are a lot of great flat shoes in the sale.  I’d start with these Nine West ‘Cool Dude’ Flats in red or blue patent leather.  Then, I’d go for these Isola Britt flats in a versatile tortoise-shell (smashing with black pants).  And lastly, I would not miss these under-$100 pointed-toe basic black flats from Ivanka Trump.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
