Double Faced Crepe Dress ($139 + 50% off with code BYEWINTER)

J.Crew’s infamous final sale is happening with 40%-off all sale items and 50%-off select items with code BYEWINTER.  It’s difficult to know what will be a good deal when you can’t return the item if you don’t like it.  To prevent buyer’s remorse, I like to stick to categories that a) don’t need to fit, or b) would be sellable on eBay.  These include dresses, coats, accessories, bags and shoes.

The dress above is an easy basic, so if you’re fairly certain of your size, it’s a good deal.  This Cutaway Crepe dress is perfect for anyone who needs a simple cocktail dress, and this almost-cobalt Gwen dress is the perfect sleeveless sheath.

As for coats, this collarless Sabrina cloth coat comes in misses, petite and tall.  I own this Lady Day coat with Thinsulate.  I find it to be warm enough for a DC winter, and at $150ish it’s a good buy.  Get in early on this one.

There are also some awesome accessories for sale, if you’re looking for a cheap thrill. I like these leather, smartphone compatible gloves and this metallic dot scarf.

In the bag and shoe departments, there are some excellent choices.  I love this grey leather Gambrell satchel for under-$150, and this two-tone metallic bar clutch for around-$75.  These Etta Suede pumps with a block heel are a chic, comfortable heel and have most sizes available.

Any other winners from the sale?  Any items you wouldn’t recommend?

I have the satchel – they had a similar sale on it right around Christmas.. it’s gorgeous!

I have both the marled colorblock sweater and the Merino Tippi sweater (order your regular size on both)and love them. I have a few J Crew coats and they are all fabulous. On those, I’d recommened sizing up one size if you don’t have super skinny arms and want to have room for layers underneath. I didn’t care for the material on the silk metallic tunic, fortunately it was not final sale when I bought it. J Crew jewelry never disappoints me and I also love their baseball caps (although I realize this is not everyone’s style).

Whatever you do, stay away from the cashmere this year. I’ve been so disappointed with the quality.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
