Ask Belle: Simple Necklaces

May 15, 2014

Dear Belle,

I recently mucked out my jewelry box and cleaned out all of the damaged, out of style necklace and bracelets to make room for new pieces.  My husband was kind enough to buy me a lovely station necklace, but I’d like to find some simple pendant necklaces.  I found this one at Nordstrom and I’d like to buy three or four more like it.  Can you help me with a few suggestions?

Thank you! Juliette

While I adore a long necklace or something with some weight to it, sometimes a simple pendant (or a few layered together) is just the ticket.  Here are a few of my favorites:

From left to right, Tai Alphabet Necklace ($60) // Sarah Chloe Heartbeat Necklace ($119) // Gorjana Wishbone Necklace ($55) // Ariel Gordon Love Knot Necklace ($264)

The Tai necklace at left is an alternative to the more expensive Maya Brenner necklace that I’ve been drooling over for months.  The Sarah Chloe necklace is one of my favorite baubles on the market right now.  I can’t stop putting it in my Shopbop cart.

Gorjana has some lovely pieces.  I like this wishbone, but this simple hexagon necklace (also in rose gold) caught my eye as well.  If you like these simple charm necklaces, I would also have a look at some of Dogeared’s pieces.  I adore this “Free Bird” feather pendant.

Prefer silver altogether?  Try this double ring pendant from Nadri.  I also like the tribal feel of this House of Harlow Tholos pendant.

Need something under-$50?  I own this On the Mark necklace from Stella & Dot (gold and silver).  I also like the modern feel of this Topshop Triangle pendant.

Do you have a favorite pendant necklace you would like to share?  Please leave the link in the comments.  There were so many beautiful pieces to choose from, I may have gone a little crazy, but the more the merrier!

How do you keep layered necklaces like this from getting tangled together? That always happens to me. Anyone else?

I was coming here just to ask this question! Sometimes I end up with the dreaded id lanyard – hair – necklace tangle.

I’m a fan of Jennifer Zeuner — https://www.jenniferzeuner.com/ — but I couldn’t just pick one. I have a monogrammed circle pendant and a plain gold bar. The quality is good and the customer service was excellent.

Love Gorjana’s necklaces- I own the wishbone one and wear it all the time!

byboe.com also has great, simple jewelry. I have their Cubilete necklace (https://www.byboe.com/byboe/necklaces/cubilete-necklace-277.html) and I wear it all the time.

I’m adore the Maya Brenner as well but bought this cheaper, alternative to tide me over (https://ilovejewelryauctions.myshopify.com/collections/handmade-initial-necklaces) and I’ve been surprised at the quality. It’s great for the price and has lasted through a year of weekly wear. I also love that it is mixed metal.

I love this Etsy shop, I’ve been trying to decide which of her pendant necklaces or simple bracelets to buy:

The Elsa Peretti teardrop from Tiffany is bit of an investment, but I’ve had mine for 13 years and it’s still my favorite, most complimented necklace that looks as good today as the day I bought it. I highly recommend it!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
