1. Mango Flowy Trench ($75) // 2. Charlotte Russe Marble-Look Necklace ($6) // 3. Rebecca Minkoff Chain Bag ($149) // 4. Topshop Leigh Jeans ($70) // 5. Freda Silk T-shirt ($146) // 6. Nine West Jackpot Pumps ($79)

This look from Pinterest has a great crispness to it.  I love the mix of pale neutrals and white.  I think it’s very modern and relaxed, but with a wonderful sophistication to it.  Here’s how to replicate the look.

One. By now, most of us have a khaki trench.  So why not shake it up a bit and buy a grey trench?  This Mango trench is a nice option for something looser fitting, but I actually like this more structured trench from Mango better.  This mid-price DKNY trench is lovely.

Still need a khaki trench or looking to replace one?  London Fog is always a good, mid-price option.

Two. Jewelry made with marble or other stones is kind of hot fight now.  This striking K. Amato necklace mixes stones in blue and grey.  I also like this open cuff with a black-marble accent, and this $10 bar ring.

Three. A little crossbody bag with a chain strap is a nice option for many reasons.  I carry one when I travel.  I also like to carry it when I walk the puppy so I can have my hands free.  My bag of choice is the Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C.

Looking for something under-$50?  This Forever21 chain bag in white and this B.P. studded crossover are both great choices.

Four. It’s becoming acceptable, even popular, to wear white jeans 12-months per year.  I wear mine in all seasons.  I like these Topshop jeans for something distressed.  If you just want straight white denim, I like Paige Skyline jeans and the AG Farrah jeans.  Plus-size?  Cookie Johnson makes a nice jean.

Five. Short-sleeve silk or satin blouses are a great wardrobe staples.  Iris & Ink makes a nice silky tee.  I love this Helmut Lang ‘Tissue’ Tee with a layered look.  I also love the mix of colors on this Raoul tee yellow and grey.

Six. These Nine West heels would be a total staple for me.  They also come in navy and black.  Total classic.  Looking for something with more va-va-voom?  These Reiss pumps have a great metal accent on the ankle strap.  For this outfit, I also like the idea of these Vince Camuto pumps in a metallic foil.

    Hi Belle,
I am looking for a khaki trench coat that is reasonable in price and wearable in the fall and winter California weather. Do you have any recommendations other than London Fog?
    Thank you very much,
    Helena

    Hi Belle-
My fiance and I have our engagement photo shoot on September 20 and I think this outfit idea may work really well since its early fall. Would you suggest any additional items/outfits for this? I really do love the idea of the white and grey. My only concern is how white jeans will look on my bottom heavy self in pictures.
    Thank you!

Snap a few photos in the jeans before the shoot and see how you feel. I always advise to spend more time in your hair, makeup and nails for an engagement shoot.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
