Morning Line: September 8

Sep 8, 2015

The unofficial end to summer has come and gone.  If you were too busy lounging at the beach or barbecuing with friends to hit the Labor Day sales, you have not missed all the good deals.  Three of my favorite retailers were astute enough to carry their three-day-weekend sales into a fourth day.

Nordstrom // No code needed; end-of-season clearance sale. // Ends September 13.

NYDJ Bridget Dress ($100) // NYDJ Henley Blouse ($53, also in petite) // Mural Slouchy Boyfriend Blazer ($45)

The Nordstrom clearance sale has a wide selection of pieces in every price point.  This emerald a-line skirt can be worn with a short-sleeve blouse now and with a slouchy sweater in the fall.  Need sweaters?  This B.P. long cardigan is under-$25, and I love this dotted-texture grey sweatshirt.  As for my favorite clothing item (dresses), this shirred Halogen dress is perfect for the weekend (or traveling).

Lastly, if you’re looking for shoes, these gunmetal Sam Edelman flats are great.  These Corso Como Del pumps are great for work. I also like these sleek Coach rain boots with a tie-up back.

Plus-size? I love this v-neck Classiques sheath dress in peacock teal.  Petite?  This emerald green overcoat brings a pop of color to your cold-weather wardrobe.

Banana Republic // 40-percent-off with code BRFALL // Ends September 8.

I’m still loving these drapey olive cargo pants.  Also worth a look, this shirred knit dress that I picked up in the seaweed color.  For tops, this mustard-colored sweater and this burgundy swing tank.

For accessories, I like these double pouch crossbody bag in a selection of hues.  This Aiden d’Orsay flat is also worth a look.

Rebecca Taylor // An extra-40% off sale items with code LABORDAY40 // Ends September 8.

This ponte dress with lace accents mixes navy and black perfectly for under-$100. I also love this white die-cut crop top with matching pencil skirt.  This punch-dot tweed jacket in pale pink would look lovely over sheath dresses or skirts.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
