January is the time of self-improvement and change.  Do it for yourself.  Don’t do it for someone else.  It’s too easy to quit otherwise.  You are good enough, worthy enough, be enough of a reason to do a little better for yourself.

***

1) The Happiness Code: Thinking positively, only when it’s warranted by the facts. (The New York Times)

2) Target has some amazing, affordable handbags.  This Merona large satchel with crossbody strap in dark blue (or any of the six colors) is gorgeous.

3) The 38 restaurants across the nation where you need to eat. (Eater)

4) Physician’s Formula has this new Touch of Blur concealer that’s supposed to smooth imperfections. Has anyone tried it?

5) How to Dress Up Like a President. A look at the fashion of the 2016 presidential candidates. (The Awl)

6) This Southwestern-printed oblong scarf from Forever21 is fab.  This abstract print fringe scarf in black and white is a great basic.

7) Ever wanted to cut your own hair?  Here are some tips. (Racked)

8) I bought this off-the-shoulder sweater from WHBM, and I love it.  I may also pick up this black Michael Kors sweater.

9) Study says an Hermes Birkin bag is a better investment than stocks and bonds. (Racked)

10) I want to bring a little bit of pink into my bedroom without making it too girly.  I love this pillow from Threshold at Target.  I can pair it with this gray and white bench to bring it all together.

11) A Marine is wearing medals he didn’t earn.  A court calls it free speech. (MSN)

Eye Candy.  Looking for an utterly simple, impactful wedding look: This strapless Lanvin gown with these emerald Jemma Wynne earrings.

Belle – saw that WHBM sweater online and liked it, but what put me over the edge is how great it looks on you on instagram. Is the grey one you link to here the same one as the cream-looking one you are wearing in that picture? Or are you wearing this one from WHBM?: https://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/product/convertible-cowl-sweater/570157177?color=1335&catId=&onSale=true&fromSearch=true&scPos=1-1004-3128

Is anyone else loving the irony of the how to dress like a President Article? Especially this part: “Let me get this right,” he responded, secure that he already was, “ISIS is cutting people’s heads off, setting people on fire in cages. Saudi Arabia and Iran are on the verge of a war.” According to Jeremy W. Peters, a New York Times reporter covering the 2016 presidential election, he continued to list more “grave threats to the country’s safety and stability,” before closing with, “And people were worked up about his boots, he asked, incredulous.”

Welcome to being judged by your appearance! Remember 2008/9 and all the drama about Hillz and Palin? Yeah. there were more pressing things then, too buddy!

  3. Steph says:

That pink pillow looks even better in person! If I hadn’t purchased all new bedding over the holidays I would have been all over them.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
